In just under a month, the team here at Refresh will be lacing up their hiking boots and taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks, to raise money for our chosen charity of the year, Sands.
On Friday 22nd September, the team will be heading up (and down!) the three most famous peaks in the county; Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). With a total elevation of 1500m, and a route spanning 25 miles, it’s no surprise that it’s described as “the most formidable challenge walk in the Yorkshire Dales”.
It’s going to be tough, but it’s for an important cause. Each year we nominate a charity that is close to our hearts, which we support over the course of the year through a variety of fundraising activities. This year, our chosen charity is Sands, which works to save babies’ lives and supports bereaved families following the loss of a baby.
Their compassionate efforts extend not only to bereaved families but also to healthcare professionals and researchers, working collectively to reduce the number of baby deaths and improve care for those affected. We couldn’t be prouder to stand alongside Sands in their mission.
We’ve organised a number of fundraisers over the coming weeks, including a team brunch, book swap, and yoga session, in the lead up to our Yorkshire Three Peaks attempt.
The team will be aiming to reach the summits of all three of Yorkshire’s tallest mountains in just 12 hours… Wish us luck!
