During June, Erin joined us here at Refresh for some work experience. During this time, she attended our Heating Installer Awards presentation at Birmingham NEC, helping to man our stand, created social media and online content, assisted with press office activities and spent time with our team, awards sponsors and network of installers – it was a jam-packed fortnight! Erin tells us here what she learnt from her 14 days with us.
I wanted to make sure I got some hands-on experience of the PR and marketing world as I explored what my future career could look like. I was thrilled to be offered two weeks of work experience at Refresh. From the moment I arrived, to attending the Heating Installer Awards during my first week, I was given a well-rounded, fun-filled experience of what the fast-paced but exciting world of PR can offer!
Landing an internship at Refresh massively excited me because, as agencies go, Refresh was at the top of the list for me. I was instantly made to feel part of the team and got stuck into helping them with the Heating Installer Awards campaign. Even though the campaign was months in the making, I felt like I had been there since the start! The buzz of the event was brilliant and it was abundantly clear that Refresh really care about the work they put in, and the people involved, which was so lovely – and, no pun intended, but was refreshing to see.
The team at Refresh was extremely welcoming and patient, considering this was my first ever experience at a PR agency. I was given constructive criticism on my work, which enabled me to improve quickly and learn as I went along. Thanks to them, I now have experience writing a whole host of marketing materials from e-shots to blogs and press releases.
It was quickly noticeable why the agency is so successful with their existing clients and attracting new ones through the door. The team alongside its friendly and approachable workplace culture is something I feel shined through and is clearly part of its winning formula.
It was an honour to create content for both the Refresh and the Heating Installer Awards’ social channels, using a blend of storytelling and creative content. Being able to meet and work closely with the installers and sponsors at the Awards, allowed me to understand what made them tick and create content that would entice and engage this target audience on a deeper level.
I have simply loved my time at Refresh. I have learnt so much and its really added to my skills as I begin to make my way into the world of work. The public relations industry is not something I have previously experienced. However, since working at Refresh, it has made it top of my list of potential careers.
It has been a pleasure to work with the team and I wish them all the very best for the future. I cannot thank them enough for this experience.
