Refresh awarded membership to the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter

Refresh has been announced as a member the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter. The announcement, which was made by Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham this morning, demonstrates our commitment to improving practice in all characteristics of good employment and making Refresh a great place to work!

The Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter is a voluntary membership and assessment scheme that aims to raise employment standards across Greater Manchester. By securing member status, we have proved that we’re committed to providing work that is secure, flexible and fairly paid, while ensuring our employees are developed, well-managed and engaged, with their health and wellbeing a top priority. This achievement is a real testament to our dedication to making Refresh a truly great place to work.

The culture here at Refresh embodies all that the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter is about.  From paying a proper Living Wage to all of our employees to having an active wellbeing calendar with regular socials and celebrations of great work, we aim to cover all bases of good employment.

We have a number of programmes in place to ensure that all of our employees’ needs are being supported.

Our Employee Assistance Programme offers 24/7 GP support and free counselling sessions to offer support with their physical and mental health, while the Refresh Academy, our bespoke in-house training programme, ensures the team’s professional development. These programmes, combined with monthly 121s with managers and regular wellbeing sessions, highlight just how important our employees are to us and exactly why Refresh has been selected for membership to the Charter.

We have always been very proud of the high employment standards we uphold here at Refresh, so it is extremely rewarding to have this formally recognised by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and with their support we will continue to strive for employment excellence.

Commenting on this, Laura Mashiter, managing director and founder of Refresh said: “We’ve worked hard on our business strategy and we know that, as a service-based business, we’ll only ever be as good as our people. We therefore want to not only attract the best, but retain the best – and then make them even better! Last year we put in place a five-step process to wellbeing, which is something we hold dear: it underpins everything we live and breathe. Having this recognised by the Good Employment Charter is a real stamp of approval for our approach to our people and wellbeing – and it’s humbling to be acknowledged for the outlook we have.

“We’re proud to now sit alongside some top names in Greater Manchester and look forward to getting to know these businesses better over the coming months.”

What a way to end 2022!
