Last week, we were presented with our membership plaque for becoming one of only 75 companies to gain membership to the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter.
Following the announcement of our membership status late last year, we were invited to a member only event in Central Manchester to celebrate this milestone along with the thirteen other employers who gained membership status in 2022. Whilst at the event, our very own Laura and Lucy were presented with their plaque by none other than the Mayor of Greater Manchester himself, Andy Burnham.
If you’re not familiar with the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter, it is a voluntary membership and assessment scheme that aims to raise employment standards across Greater Manchester. By securing member status, we’ve proven that we’re committed to providing work that is secure, flexible and fairly paid, while ensuring our employees are developed, well-managed and engaged, with their health and wellbeing a top priority.
We were awarded membership after going through a rigorous and thorough assessment process, which includes an assessment and technical panel review, before the assessment is reviewed by the Charter’s board. To succeed in this process, the seven characteristics of Good Employment must be met according to various criteria, allowing the Charter team and board to be confident in their approval of each Member to this tier.
We have always been committed to making Refresh a great place to work, so much so that we did not need to change any of our processes to gain membership to the Charter. From bespoke training programmes to a calendar full of social and wellbeing activities, we have several measures in place to ensure that our employees feel satisfied, secure and supported in all aspects of their employment. Therefore, it is enormously rewarding to have our hard work and commitment to good employment recognised and rewarded by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
We had a fantastic evening celebrating this achievement with the other new members of the Charter, as well as the Technical Panel and Board members responsible for making it all happen. It is an honour to be a certified member of the GM Good Employment Charter and with their support we will continue to strive for employment excellence, improving the lives of our employees and collectively making Manchester a better place to live and work.
