Bookkeeper - part-time

We require an experienced Bookkeeper to assist in managing our day-to-day accounting and financial requirements on a part-time basis. The role is 10 hours per week, and times/days are flexible (to be discussed at interview).

Confidentiality, excellent organisational skills and accuracy are important, as well as good customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal person for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines. More broadly, we’re looking for someone who is proactive, persistent and methodical in their approach with a real eye for detail – you may even pride yourself on being a perfectionist!

Bookkeeper job responsibilities:

  • Bookkeeping using Sage and Dext (previously Receipt Bank)
  • Manage and process team expenses
  • Input purchase invoices with receipts onto Sage
  • Raise and issue sales invoices
  • Credit control
  • Track and pay purchase invoices on time
  • Report payroll and pay PAYE
  • Keep all internal finance systems up to date (mainly on Excel)
  • Prepare client P&Ls
  • End of month management accounts and forecasts
  • Prepare quarterly tax returns
  • Assist with information required for the annual accounts
  • Create monthly expense forms and timesheets
  • Resolve client and supplier queries
  • Follow and/or improve our current bookkeeping policies and procedures
  • Assist with general office administration or ad hoc purchasing

Essential requirements: 

  • AAT qualified or equivalent
  • Previous bookkeeping and VAT experience in an SME
  • Experience using Sage
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Willingness to understand the business
  • Interest in working as part of a team
  • Proactive and discreet with the ability to use initiative and work independently
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Understanding of business management
  • Available at/near to month end

Salary: £15 per hour
